3D Printing Services for Ecommerce Businesses in the US

There are not many services that are able to truly integrate with an ecommerce business in the US. But in the this post we will answer those that can and those that you might see but don't really work.

For a 3D Printing Service to be viable for ecommerce it must

  • Have the Scale to Service your Business (ie be capable of Shipping thousands of orders per day) Ideally print on demand.

  • Be able to integrate with your Ecommerce site. A service that requires you enter orders manually is totally useless.

With that set, let's take a look.

Xometry

Xometry is a professional prototyping service and production partner. But it is not ideal for Ecommerce.

  1. While Xometry is able to produce 3D Printed parts, it is best if you are in a production run. i.e. Ordering hundreds of parts that you intend to store.

  2. Xometry has no way to integrate with your website. Each order would need to be manually entered into Xometry

This holds true for most 3D Printing services like PCBWay, Craftcloud, Protolabs, Sculpteo. These services are designed for prototyping. They are not meant to make parts on demand for orders.

Shapeways

Shapeways is also a Prototyping service. While they promote integrations with Shopify and Etsy. These do not appear to exist or be supported any more.

  1. The Shapeways Shopify App is no longer available

  2. They do have mentions of an etsy integration on the website. But the links lead to a page that only promotes the API. So the Shapeways Etsy integration appears to be defunct.

Shapeways did go bankrupt in 2024. But in 2025 they were restarted by a new team. So some of their services may not be as reliable as they once were.

Ultimately, Shapeways does not appear to have the integrations necessary to support ecommerce orders any more.

Teleport by Slant 3D

Teleport was created by Slant 3D in order to integrate directly with 3D Printing ecommerce stores.

  1. Currently Teleport is able to automatically connect to all ecommerce platforms. Shopify, Etsy, TikTok, Woocommerce, and basically any other.

  2. The Slant 3D Print Farms are Speced for 1000+ Machines. (The largest being the Megafarm in Boise Idaho layed out with 3000 Machines)

Teleport is the only platform currently available with the scale and integration that can support truly professional ecommerce businesses.

Teleport can be setup in about 15 minutes, and immediately begin printing and shipping items directly to your customers for you. As soon as you upload a model the cost to print it is estimated.

If you do not currently have an ecommerce website you can use the Free Portals feature of Teleport that allows you to upload a model and start selling in about 30 seconds.

Of the services available in 3D Printing, almost none of them were designed explicitly for ecommerce. They are meant for prototyping or small run production at best. But if you want a system that can print and ship items directly to your customers for you Teleport is best option.
