As many of you know, the Slant 3D Print services Teleport and Portals have instant refund policies. Users do not request a refund, they can just hit a button. This is the truest form of feedback because if there is any problem with a file or print then the user can get a full refund with no questions asked. Keeps us honest. And we use this refund rate as the primary indicator or print quality and performance in the services. (Because users are basically incentivized to get a refund with a cash reward. So any defect can trigger it)

For the previous 30 days Teleport has averaged a 0.9% refund request rate. Meaning that fewer than 1 in 100 orders have anything wrong with them. From a sagging overhang, to a stain on print, to a truck driving over the box. For context UPS accepts that 1% of packages will not arrive at their destination. And manufacturers are considered world class if <2% of parts are defective. So we are doing better than multi-billion dollar companies. The difference is that we have to accept any random file, print it in a couple of days and deliver it to the end customer. (Amazing that we were able to get sub 1% given the our shippers claim they might lose 1% of the things we send)

But it is a real testament to the team and the work that has been done to refine print quality and reliability. Since the Teleport print service launched we have changed the file review process, made manual reslices a default and faster action to supplement the automated systems, and continually tweaked the entire process.

And our users have helped too. It is very clear that files have become more printable since launch as people have learned more about portals. It is rare that we get a part intended for SLA. Or a part so small it has features smaller than the diameter of the nozzle. (Though we have worked to address those too)

Thank you to all of the Portals and Teleport users that have sent thousands of parts through these services. It is so incredible to help you all grow your businesses so that you can focus on creating more awesome stuff without having to pack boxes to do it.

Now onward to pushing that number lower. We have a few things that we think will move that decimal over another point or two.
