This is a common and reasonable question that comes up. So in this post we are going to go through every facet of it and explain it all.
Here is the short Answer.
Slant 3D, Teleport and Portals does everything that is possible to make sure that the designer of the files is the only person that ever has control of them. No one outside of Slant 3D will ever have access to the file. And Slant 3D most certainly has no rights to them, beyond what is needed to print them out for you. When you upload a file to one of our services we are signing an NDA for those files per our terms of service.
Here is our Privacy Policy
Here is our Terms of Service.
How does this work in practice?
How our Founder looks at this
This was discussion during one of our weekly podcasts that we pulled our and put into a video.
Who owns the files when I upload it to Teleport/Portals/Slant3D.
You do. You own your Files. Only you (Unless you licensed them from a designer). Your files are your files. Our job is to print them.
Can Slant 3D Sell Prints of my files.
No. We cannot. Your files are your files. It would be a wild breach of our policies and ethics if we just reached in and stole files from our customers. We would not stay in business long.
What if I see one of my designs on Portals?
Check with the seller to see if they have a liscense from you. If that doesn't appear to be the case email support@slant3d.com. And we will investigate. We take file piracy very seriously. The designers should benefit from the sale of any 3D Print.
What Else Does Slant 3D Do to Protect my Files?
Oh! There are a whole bunch of things
Every employee that works here has to sign an NDA when they join
Files never leave our systems. Since all of our print farms are ours no one outside of our company ever has access to them
Our development team works continuously to make sure that our systems are protected to hacking
Files are not shared. Teleport and Portals protect designers so much because files are not shared with users. They are uploaded only as instructions to make a print. No one every has "a copy" of a file. They only have the privilege to order prints of a design on one of our services. This means the designer can stop all sales of their design is they would like.
We can't film in the factory. We do a lot of youtube. But it is completely forbidden to film in the factory or show a client part on camera. No one knows what parts we are making unless we have a public release.
How do I know this is all true?
Slant 3D has been in business since 2019. In that time we have done projects for billion dollar startups, Fortune 500 companies, and the Military. That does not happen if we are loose with how we protect IP. We would get sued by organizations with unlimited resources.
You cannot stay in business if you mess with the IP of your customers. And with over 8000+ businesses using Teleport and Portals we think we much be doing a good job of protecting people's files.
Who are Some People that Gave Slant 3D Their Designs

Conclusion
3D Models are the most important parts of our business. Without them we have nothing to print. But the people that create them are the ones that we truly want to protect. If a designer has their designs stolen than they will no longer create the awesome things that we get to see every day. And there need to be more 3D Printed products in the world.
Our services were created to allow designers to get their products into the hands of people without 3D Printers. But still allow them to design. If we do not protect the IP that these people create then that mission will never succeed.
Everything we make is to help designers make a living with their designs. So we do all that we can to make sure that that livelihood is protected and growing.
So. Your Files are yours, they will always be yours, and you will always have control of them. Our job is to print them out and send them to customers.
