If you are a 3D Model Designer, Portals can be a fantastic addition for you. Allowing your products to reach people without 3D Printers. Rather than be restricted to the ~1 Million people who own a home 3D Printer and have to print the file. You can instead share the actual printed object with Everyone on the planet.

Here is how it works.

  1. Sign into Portals. (Totally free always)

  2. Upload a Model to Portals

  3. Select the Material and Color that you want it made in.

  4. Set a price.

  5. Publish it.

  6. All done in about 2 Minutes

  7. When you get an order Slant 3D will print, pack, ship, process the payment, and handle support and returns for you. You get to just Design awesome stuff.

That is it. Now you can share individual Portals or your Portals Store Front Nexus with your community.

When a customer goes to the Portal they can purchase the actual 3D Print of the product. And it will be delivered a few days later.

This is excellent to reach parts of your following that are not into 3D Printing. You might have had a video go viral and people are asking for the print. Now you can give it to them. And you do not have to operate your own print farm.

Matthew Ghost is a great example of a designer that did this. With a large Instagram following he has had several videos go viral. Collecting millions of views. And now he can share the actual prints with people who want them. But he still gets to focus on design

Why Create Portals At All?

That is a great question. The main thing it is lets you share real products with the entire world

  1. We can help you move your files over to Portals

  2. Portals Lets you Sell Prints to 1 Billion People rather than Files to 1 Million People

  3. Portals protects your designs because you are not sharing your file with anyone else.

  4. It takes about 1 Minute to create a portal.

  5. You do not have to deal with printing, packing, paying, shipping or anthing else. Create a Portal and we do everything else.

How do you get Paid on Portals?

When you create a Portal you set the profit on the Portal. When someone orders the print Slant 3D is paid and you receive the profit you set when you made the portal. You can tap on the sales ticker to have your money sent to you via paypal.

How are the Prints Made?

Prints are made on Demand in one of Slant 3D's giant print farms. The largest is speced for 3000 machines. And Slant 3D is building more all the time. You basically have thousands of machines available to support you.

How are My files protected?

Every files on Portals is heavily protected and never shared. And if you ever want to deactivate a portal you certainly can. You can see the full privacy policy here. But ultimately Portals only uses the file to make the print. Way better than sharing riles to a repository where you lose control of a file as soon as it is downloaded.

Does Portals Advertise my Items?

Yes. Sort of. When you publish a Portal we help in a few ways. It is a findable on Google. We will run ads against some Portals. And we will continually work to find other ways also. (Including sharing with out own Followers when we can)

But sales are never guaranteed. Portals were designed for social media. Share it to your audience. Or here are some other tricks to promote your Portals

What is the Portals Print Quality

Great Question. Slant 3D has one of the most reliable print services on the planet. Here is a good long explanation. But currently <1% of orders ever have any issue. This includes print quality, failed shipment, or just a dissatisfied customer of any sort. UPS estimates that 1% of their packages may have some issue.

Ways to improve this even more is to follow a few very simple rules

  1. Make sure the part is for FDM

  2. Make sure you have printed it before.

  3. Make nothing smaller than 20mm cubed

  4. Minimize Support

  5. Run a Test Print Through Portals (contact support@slant3d.com and we will help all we can)

  6. Use these other design tips

But you a model designer. You already knew all of that.

Below are a few examples of print quality from Portals.
